My teeth feel like they might fall off any moment
Lazy weekend. Hauled my ass out of bed in the morning for my dental appointment all the way in Ubi. Luckily my dad was around to give me a lift, allowing me the luxury of another hour of sleep. Lol. I wished I'd gone to a dental clinic nearer home, the journey is pure boredom of more than an hour.
Since my dad had so kindly given me a lift, I arrived 40mins early for my appointment. Thus, I was stoning the the waiting area and flipping through the stack of magazines, when I came across this interesting article on LASIK surgery. After reading it, I was tempted to go for it, since I hated wearing specs and contacts are a chore to put on. Then, I saw this line: recommended for patients with degrees of 150 and less. WTF. I thought people who rely heavily on visual aid like specs and contacts are the ones who have a greater need for the surgery. Weird eh? My mother, who was half-blind before her surgery, had a degree of 950 in both eyes. Now she probably has better vision than I do. Maybe I should just heck the consequences and go for it once I'd saved up anyway.
After a boring wait, it was my turn at last. My dentist is a wonderful man, everytime I visit, he gives me a new contraption to put on. Today's torture: a modification made to the plastic piece I wear behind my upper teeth, and a tightening of the braces with some kind of rubber band. The best part is, the pain doesn't kick in immediately. I left the clinic thinking maybe I'd gotten off lightly today, but noooo, when I got home and had lunch, I nearly jumped out of my seat from the pain when I tried to chew on a spoonful of rice. Sigh. Dinner was worse, I had to mash up my food with the spoon and swallow with minimum chewing. Sometimes I wonder why did I put myself through this torture anyway. The price of vanity.
Messaged my mei and the others about Weida's birthday celebration tomorrow. Seems like they are having lunch at Suntec's Marche at 1330. Sigh, not only is the timing too rushed for me, the place is quite some distance from Plaza Singapura too. Lessons begin at 2pm, so I guess I won't be joining them for lunch. With my teeth in such shape, I doubt I'd be eating much anyway. I wish they would go catch a movie after lunch, but noone seems particularly interested. Instead they all want to go shopping. Girls. Sigh. Haven't decided on what to get for Weida, ah well, my presence tomorrow should be enough of a gift. Lol. Am I a cheapo bastard or what?
